Rising Main Water Supply Project

Congratulations to Ilifa Africa Engineers (Pty) Ltd and the lead consultant, EPF Systems, on the successful and efficient completion of the design and drawings for the 600mm Ø steel rising main water project in the Umzinyathi District, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

This critical infrastructure project adds much-needed capacity to the regional water supply system, conveying water over a distance of 15 km from the Water Purification Plant (WPP) to the main 9ML regional distribution reservoir. Once fully commissioned, it will significantly enhance water supply to the surrounding communities.

The project is now in its final stages of completion, and we commend everyone involved for their professionalism and dedication in delivering this important milestone.

Thanks also to Ben Joubert for the following endorsement of Civil Designer:

“I have used Civil Designer extensively in the design of bulk water supply projects, including rising mains and water pump stations. The software supports both the engineering design process and the efficient generation of construction drawings, making it an indispensable tool in our project delivery.

Features such as the Pump Selector, which integrates a comprehensive pump catalogue and allows the use of pump curves for accurate pump selection, are particularly valuable. The ability to revise and enhance the design using the improved vertical alignment tools, along with the functionality for designing, sizing, and placing air and scour valves, has proven especially useful in ensuring efficient and practical system layouts.

Having used the program for over 20 years, I can confidently say that Civil Designer is a powerful, efficient, and user-friendly solution for civil engineering design.” –Ben Joubert, Civil Engineering Technologist, Ilifa Africa Engineers (Pty) Ltd
