Congratulations to EFG Engineers (Pty) Ltd for completing the preliminary design for the upgrading of National Route 1 Section 3 from Worcester East to Glen Heatlie to a four-lane divided dual carriageway cross-section. The 10.5 km road widening project involves negotiating valuable agricultural farmland next to the Hex River, rail and river crossings, as well as deep existing cuttings. New bridge structures will have to be constructed, as well as service roads to provide local access. The upgrade includes the design of two new interchanges.
